12-Year Old Boy Opens Cupcakes on 8th Shop in Wisconsin

John Puskas Truel and his mother Patricia co-own
Cupcakes on 8th, 509 East 8th Street, in Marshfield, Wisconsin

It's remarkable when any 12-year old launches his own business, it's even more incredible when that 12-year old young man has Down Syndrome. As co-owner of Cupcakes on 8th with his awesome mother, Patricia Puskas Truel, John Truel works the cash register, gives change and interacts with the community all the while learning important life skills to make this young man self-sufficient well into adulthood.

The former owner and baker of Cupcakes by Patricia in New York, Patricia does the baking right in the store behind the display case. Her cupcakes are fresh and hot from the oven. Did I mention that Cupcakes on 8th sells mini-cupcakes sell for $.25?!!!

The bakery is decorated with a 50's feel featuring pink cabinets and black and white polka dot uniforms with old-school music streaming in the background. A self-service DIY cupcake/dessert decorating bar with lots of candy toppings is soon to follow.
